The Opportunity
You will play a crucial role in supporting individuals regain control over their lives, maintain their tenancy with us in the short term, and secure and sustain their own permanent accommodation in the long term.
About the Role:
As a Housing Support Worker working across 3 central Bradford locations you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals to regain control over their lives, maintain their tenancy with us in the short term, and secure and sustain their own permanent accommodation in the long term.
Your day to day work will include:
- Assess prospective clients to ensure that that their support needs fall within agreed referral criteria.
- Carry out weekly welfare checks, ensuring that individuals immediate needs are met including, but not limited to mental health and wellbeing.
- Create individual support plans keep them up to date, ensuring that progress can be measured and reported on.
- Encourage clients to take responsibility for maintaining their home and ensure that they have a good understanding of their rights and responsibilities under the tenure agreement.
- Complete regular inspections of properties: report repairs to the internal Assets Team
- Develop sound working relationships with external agencies, ensuring that clients are involved in decisions that affect them, advocating on their behalf or working with their advocate where appropriate.
- Respond promptly and sensitively in line with procedures to all reports of harassment, domestic violence, nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
- Support the Income team with Housing Benefit claims support clients to maximise and manage their income.
About You:
It’s important that you can demonstrate that you have the following skills, knowledge, experience & qualities as these are what we think are essential to make someone suitable for this role.
- Good IT skills.
- The ability to maintain accurate and concise written records.
- Good communication skills (listening, verbal and written).
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- A proactive problem solver.
And it would be great if you also have …
- A basic understanding of the support needs of vulnerable people
- A good knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Insight & understanding of people who have experienced periods of drug and alcohol use, poor mental health and periods of homelessness.

What we’re offering
Permanent contracts between 15 & 37.5 hours per week
Working sociable shifts between 8am and 5pm on Monday to Friday.
Our current hourly rate of £11.09 per hour will be reviewed in April.
